Linear Tape-Open (LTO) is a tape storage technology collaboratively developed by HP, IBM and Seagate Technology.
LTO-2 offers a capacity of 200 GB (400 GB compressed) and a transmission speed of 40 MB (80 MB compressed) per second.
The LTO-2 doubles the speed and capacity of the LTO-1.
The capacity and data transfer rate for the LTO-2 requires a compression ratio of 2:1.
The LTO-2 generation has been available since 2003.
