Linear Tape-Open (LTO) is a tape storage technology collaboratively developed by HP, IBM and Seagate Technology.
LTO-6, which was released in December 2012, has a capacity of up to 6,250 GB and a data transfer rate of up to 400 MB per second.
The LTO-6 drive supports features such as WORM, partitioning and hardware-based encryption to enable LTFS.
LTO-6 provides read and write functionality for LTO-5 cartridges and read functionality for LTO-4 cartridges.
