Linear Tape-Open (LTO) is a tape storage technology collaboratively developed by HP, IBM and Seagate Technology.
LTO-7 was released at the end of 2015 and is the successor of the LTO-6 generation. The capacity of the LTO-7 is 6 TB (15 TB compressed) and offers up to 750 MB data transfer rate per second.
The LTO-7 capacity can contain data from up to five LTO-5 cartridges.
The LTO-7 capacity equals the capacity of five LTO-5 cartridges and doubles the capacity of the LTO-6 drive.
LTO-7 supports LTFS, WORM and AES 256-bit hardware encryption with maximum protection for stored data.
